The Wide Flange Bench embodies the material relationships of architecture — salvaged framing lumber severs through surplus steel as a demonstration of oxymoronic material behavior. None of the materials are treated as homage to their previous life and natural state of decay. While the wood will rot quicker than the steel, it may be replaced to continue its service. This bench is designed to ergonomic standards to induce a lounged, reflective position similar to a park bench. Thank you to Design Build Utah for supporting this project.
